چکیده

Fungal infection is one of the diseases that has experienced an increasing incidence in world, especially Indonesia with its geographical condition as a country tropical climate high temperature and humidity. One most common fungal infections caused by fungus Candida albicans. The antifungal resistance become health problem increase mortality. Efforts must be made to overcome this utilizing secondary metabolite compounds found green chili plants. Green (Capsicum annum L) contains metabolites such flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenes/steroids glycosides which act antifungals. purpose study was test whether extract could inhibit growth research method used posttest only control group design method. effect tested diffusion concentrations 2%, 4%, 6% positive ketoconazole negative Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). Each treatment carried out five times. diameter inhibition zone measured caliper. results showed at all concentrations, namely 2% (7.9mm), 4% (10.6mm), (11.2mm). conclusion had highest inhibitory power concentration 6%.

Respiration rate model for mature green capsicum (Capsicum annum L.) under closed aerobic atmospheric conditions

The respiration rate of green capsicum cv. ‘Swarna’ fruits harvested at mature green stage were determined under closed system at 10, 15 and 20 oC temperatures. A simple Michaelis-Menten kinetic model coupled with Arrhenius-type equation, which describes temperature as a function of respiration rate, was used to model the respiration rate of capsicum. The respiration rate model parameters at de...

In vivo and in vitro anaerobic mating in Candida albicans.

Candida albicans cells of opposite mating types are thought to conjugate during infection in mammalian hosts, but paradoxically, the mating-competent opaque state is not stable at mammalian body temperatures. We found that anaerobic conditions stabilize the opaque state at 37 degrees C, block production of farnesol, and permit in vitro mating at 37 degrees C at efficiencies of up to 84%. Aerobi...

In vitro damage of Candida albicans biofilms by chitosan

With the increasing usage of indwelling medical devices in clinical practice, the frequency of fungal infections has increased, such as that of Candida albicans (C. albicans). Biofilms, a protected niche for microorganisms, are resistant to a range of current antifungal agents. Chitosan is a polyatomic biopolymer with advantageous biocompatibility, biodegradation, nontoxicity and antibacterial ...
